My Little Green Button cannot contact the licence server

Problems connecting to Licence Server

If you enter the activation code into your Little Green Button and you see an error message saying that Little Green Button cannot contact the licence server there is likely to be a firewall or proxy server that is preventing access to our servers. You will need to ask your system administrator to add an exclusion, for full instructions please click here.

I need to configure Little Green Button for a proxy server or gateway

Configuring for a proxy server or gateway

Little Green Button uses http resources hosted at littlegreenbutton.com.  If a network proxy or gateway prevents access to such resources it must be configured with an exception that allows http and https access to *.littlegreenbutton.com.  Be aware that these resources are required both for

  • logged-on interactive users (running lgbgui.exe) and
  • the Local System Account (running the service lgbsvc.exe).

A firewall is preventing Little Green Button working

Firewalls

During installation Little Green Button automatically configures Windows Firewall (if present) with the necessary exceptions. However, if a 3rd party firewall is being used the system administrator must manually create the exception. Please click here for full instructions.

The location given on alert is incorrect

Checking and Changing Locations

The location of each button is set manually by the user or administrator, this is to ensure that it is easily understood by all users so in an emergency it is clear where assistance is required.

If PCs are moved around it is essential that the location is kept up-to-date.

To amend the location of a button, right click on it and select Alter Location from the menu.

rightclick_alterlocationNote: If Alter Location is greyed out in the menu you will have to ask an administrator to make the change for you.

settings_mylocationThe My location tab of Settings will open. The current location is displayed at the top of the tab along with a drop down list of any locations currently in use on this PC.

You can select a location from the drop down or click Add to input a new one.

You can also add a telephone number which will be displayed on the alerts.

If you wish to make a map giving your location available, set the co-ordinates or click View Map to manually set your position.

Enabling the Audible Alert

Little Green Button is designed to be discreet, you can request assistance without anyone realising you have done so. Therefore, there is no sound from the PC where the button has been activated. However, sound is an option on all other PCs where the alert messages are displayed.

You can configure this option for each button by right clicking on the Little Green Button and select Settings:

settings_optionsGo to the Options tab and tick the box Audible alert on this computer when a colleague requests assistance?

You can use the Test button to ensure that you can hear the audible alert.

Please be aware that your PC must have speakers, a sound card installed and the volume set to a suitable level.

My desktop button has disappeared behind another application

Desktop icon hidden behind other applications

Little Green Button is programmed to stay on top of other applications, however it is possible to clash with another application that has also been programmed in this way and could therefore be hidden behind. These applications tend to be small like Little Green Button, for example, our own DORIS searchbar. As both applications use the same strategy to stay on top we advise you to place them on different areas of the screen so that they do not overlap.

Little Green Button Mobile (1)

My Mobile Button is grey

Grey Mobile Button

Screenshot_2014-08-19-12-44-06The Little Green Button on your mobile will be grey when there are currently no other buttons active on your site licence connected to the bridge server.

So if you just use Little Green Button on Mobile this would mean there are no other mobiles using your site licence with the app running.

If you use Little Green Button on Windows, it may mean that there are currently no Windows buttons active or it could be simply because the connectivity model they have configured is preventing connection to the bridge server. For guidance with connectivity please click here.

Existing Little Green Button customers: please review the instructions to ensure your Little Green Buttons running on Windows integrate with Little Green Button Mobile.

mobilegrey_activatedIf you do have a grey button you can still request assistance though, an animation will show that the button has been activated.

Any button subsequently becoming active will receive your request, at this point the button will turn red as normal.
